With the exception of dragons, every creature must come to terms with the eventual expiration of their life. Time ticks away for all. It hunts all living creatures down. Many obsess through their days to extend their lives, even for a little bit. They spend so much to lengthen their existence, they waste what little they have. Even for fey, some capable of living for thousands of years, an end still approaches accompanied by increasing panic and dread. Some take measures to extend their lives, but no route to stave off death exists that is not marred in evil.

One path lies with the undead. Pursuing this path promises absolute immortality by turning one completely over to the other side, to which a vampire is the most powerful. Certain problems exist with this path. The result is a despicable creature, known for xenophobia and isolation. The process is long and complicated, leading some others to attempt another route.

This leads to corrupt magic—known as corrupt draconic—the dark magic that duplicates normal magic but channels from Ixindar instead of Attricana. In order to channel this power, a caster must embrace its potential, allowing it to saturate his very soul. His very essence becomes rooted to the dark gate. It tempts many, promising everlasting life and immense power with very little personal sacrifice. There is no small print, no bewitching, no double-dealing, and no secret price. The dark pact promises eternal life, so one's soul is never used as a bargaining chip. Signing a deal with the evil of Ixindar promises power, charisma, and youth. If one is willing to embrace the darkness, it asks for nothing else.

The nihilimancer embraces the black arts. He seeks out the seals of corrupt draconic, atar draco sigilia. Learning from them, he is able to reverse the very polarity of his soul to channel magic from Ixindar, much as demons and typhox dragons do. The process is complicated. The seeking out of these rare symbols is lengthy itself. To channel the power from Ixindar as a caster requires neither a personal sacrifice nor a protracted oath of loyalty to any demon or dark god. All that is required is will to do whatever is needed to extend one's own power. As it stems from an obsession to extend one's life, almost all the world's dark casters are human. There were never nihilimancers before man appeared.

All of the following are class features of the nihilimancer prestige class.

Spells per Day/Spells Known: When a new nihilimancer level is gained, the character gains new spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as if he had also gained a level in the spellcasting class he belonged to before he added the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. This essentially means that he adds the level of nihilimancer to the level of some other spellcasting class the character has, then determines spells per day, spells known, and caster level accordingly.

Shaping the Void: At 1st level, the nihilimancer may create a neverborn servant. The neverborn acts as the nihilimancer's focus totem. As long as the neverborn remains within 50 feet per caster level, the neverborn counts as if it were in the nihilimancers possession for the purposes of casting arcane spells. The nihilimancer is also immune to the effects of an Antimagic field.

If the neverborn dies, the nihilimancer may perform the ritual again to create another neverborn. The nihilimancer loses all class abilities and spells until another neverborn is created. See "Evolution of Evil" for information on the neverborn.

Nethercraft: Any arcane spell cast by the nihilimancer gains the negative descriptor, due to the nature of his focus totem, and the method in which spells are prepared. Nihilimancers cannot cast "Good" descriptor spells. Negative spells do not generate EDF but cannot be suppressed by antimagic fields.

Primal Negotiations (Ex): The neverborn is capable of gleaning many rituals from unknown sources connected to the void, and shares these with the nihilimancer. These rituals serve to increase the nihilimancers force of will. As the nihilimancer gains levels, his Wisdom and Charisma scores increase as noted on table: nihilimancer. These are natural enhancements.

Enslavement (Su): The servants of Mengus distrust nihilimancers and many are outright hostile to them. As a nihilimancer's power over the essence of Ixindar grows, his neverborn servant teaches him to harness that energy and those creatures created from it.

When a nihilimancer reaches 5th level, he gains the supernatural ability to rebuke creatures with negatively polarized souls (demons, pagus, typhox dragons and intelligent undead). He may use this ability a number of times equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier. He rebukes as a cleric of equal level to his caster level.

Physical Transcendence (Su): At 10th level, the nihilimancer no longer ages. He gains regeneration (1). All damage is treated as non-lethal. The only way to kill a nihilimanceris to render him unconscious through non-lethal damage and deliver a coup de grace attack.

This benefit of time is limited to the lifespan of the neverborn and if it is killed or if the fey organs within it degrade (before replacement), the nihilimancer suffers 1 point of charisma drain (no save) every day until the nihilimancer is reduced to zero or is able to recreate or sustain its neverborn.
